Living A Purposeful Life



In April 2021, I had the privilege to share with the Youths during our Family Week at CGMI The Historic Miracle Centre, Benin City.


My topic was: 'Purposeful Living.'

The first thing I said was "purpose is better than life & wife."
Living a long life and having a good spouse will all be meaningless without knowing and fulfilling God's purpose for our lives. Our lives & everything God gives us is so we can fulfil His purpose for our lives.

Purposeful Living is about living your life in a way that will help you discover and fulfil God's purpose for your life.

Four keys to living a purposeful life are:
1. Pressing into Christ - God's utmost purpose for our lives is that our lives be conformed to Christ, (Rom.8:29, Eph.4:15). The more like Christ we become, the more like Him we will perform and the more rewards we will get in Heaven.

2. Serving in the Body of Christ, (Eph.4:16) - as members of the Body of Christ we all have our roles & functions. As we start serving in any capacity, we will get more clarity & guidance to fulfil purpose from both God & spiritual leaders just like it happened to Samuel.

3. Developing Yourself, (1Sam.16:18) - As we discover our callings & giftings, the level at which we will function will be based on the extent to which we grow & develop ourselves. Talent is natural but skill is developed.

4. Preaching the Gospel, (2Cor.5:18) - A major part of our purpose as believers is preaching the gospel of Christ so that others can get saved and fulfil their purpose in Christ also.

My Experience with Depression and Suicide in 2001

I was a year one student in school and by God’s grace, together with some wonderful people, I had just started a campus fellowship. The inaugural program was very successful and about 30 people came out to receive Christ into their lives. But very strangely, immediately after the program a very strong negative feeling came on me. I began to feel like I had bitten more than I could chew and that I was going to disgrace myself and let God down. It was like I was hearing a voice say to me “what have you gotten yourself into”?
