Final Part - The Greatest Lesson I Learnt From A Bank Robbery I Experienced

We started hearing rumbling and shouts from the robbers and those being threatened by them. We remembered there was a cctv up on the wall and most of us tried to sit directly under the cctv on the floor, to hide from it's view.

I remember the robbers came twice to bang on the doors of the room we were in. As they banged, they commanded that the door be opened. We were scared but ignored them. After a while, they came with the manager (an elderly woman) and commanded that she opened the door or they'll do something to her. Remember the man in charge of cash was in the room with us. He became worried and wanted to open the door so they won't hurt the manager. We were really scared because we didn't know what was going to happen next. She was pleading with them that she didn't have the key and could not open the door. Then we heard the manager make a statement. She said "Oh! They have locked this place and run away. They ran away and left me." She repeated it twice. That became like a cue for the HOD of cash. He waited a little and we noticed the robbers and the manager had left the door of the room we were in.

After a while we did not hear any sounds anymore. When we felt they might have gone, we opened the doors and came out and they were truly gone.

One more amazing thing happened before we left the bank that day. Immediately the robbers left, a customer came from Warri with about N400k cash to deposit in the bank. On hearing that robbers just left there the customer was not just shocked but more than grateful to God. It happened that while in Warri, the customer was being delayed in a bank and he was really upset. Only to later find out that the delay was God protecting him from losing all that money in an instant.

Guess what? The robbery happened just a day before the last day of my IT. As I reflected on all that happened, one thing that struck me was the great power of words. My boss had said a few times "if those bad people come, they won't see me and I won't see them" and that's exactly what happened to him and to me also who heard and agreed with what he said.

Jesus said we'll have whatsoever we say. When we hear people make statements in line with things we desire, we can agree with them too and it will eventually be our experience.

Thank you for reading.

I hope this blessed you in one way or the other.
