The Worship and Kingdom Revolution taking place in Sapele, Delta State, Nigeria.
The desire to write this piece came to
my heart in December 2017 and I thank God for the grace to be able to write it
out now. Many great things are happening in Sapele, but I want to talk about
one and different important issues that relate with it.
Lately, God has been raising more young
people to do some very amazing things in the city of Sapele. To be specific,
these young people have been putting together wonderful worship and music
groups and organising very great praise and worship concerts. You may have
noticed some of them if you are a resident or regular visitor to Sapele.
I was privileged to attend one in
December 2017 and I was so inspired and grateful to God again for what He is
doing in the city of Sapele. There was a prayer and worship session were
prayers were made for the city and a song was raised where we all had to say
"O Lord, set Sapele on fire for you, for you..." The original song
says "O Lord, set my heart on fire for you".
My heart was so stirred by this prayer
and worship session and indeed I see God stirring up a very strong passion for
Him and His Presence, for His Truth in Christ and for His righteous ways; that
will burn brightly and spread vastly across the city.
Now this happened in just one of
these programs. I know more of such prayers and worship happen in many other
programs like this. And like I wrote earlier, it is very young people that are
doing these things.
In August about two years ago, I
attended a teenagers convention in Sapele (Agape Force Convention) and I was
honestly amazed at the level of passion for God as well as the excellence and
decorum by which these teenagers comported themselves. One thing I kept saying
to myself as I left that convention was that there is hope in our future.
At this point I want to thank God
immensely for every one God has used to mentor and raise these young people
doing great things in the city of Sapele.
Two that I know of are the leaders of
The Beloved Mass Choir and the leaders of De Xtreme Unit. I remember
attending an all night worship program organized by The Beloved Mass Choir at
Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sapele, so many years ago. In this program, I was
privileged for the first time to listen to 'The Bishops' minister live. The
Bishops were very young guys but their harmonious voices and powerful lyrics
and dance steps were just beyond their looks and age.
The Beloved Mass Choir themselves were
just so amazing and usually so many. They were energetic, had great voices and
always ministered so powerfully. I think Pastor Gweke was one of their leaders.
The Beloved Mass Choir was a great joy and Blessing to the city of Sapele.
De Xtreme Unit which is made up of some
of my wonderful friends was another amazing group and they organized very
amazing events especially one called 'Back to Base'. I remember they brought
Asu Ekiye and so many other wonderful ministers. There was great music, drama,
dancing and edifying and inspiring messages. There is one of the leaders of
this group called Yoma Victor that I am still not happy with for not taking
dancing as a profession. I had never seen anyone who was so passionate,
flexible and creative in dancing like him. I expected him to have a dance
school by now. Well that is just me and he is really doing well training and
inspiring many people financially and in his businesses now. I was really
inspired and greatly blessed by all their programs.
There may be many other groups God used
to train, mentor and inspire many of the young people doing great things right
now, but The Beloved Mass Choir and De Xtreme Unit are two major ones I
know.
I also want to thank all these young
people for submitting themselves to training and mentoring.
Now I want to share three powerful
words of encouragement to end this piece.
1. God is raising more young people in
the city of Sapele to do amazing things in other fields.
I felt this very strongly when I was in
Sapele in December 2017.
Some young people are being inspired
and getting ready to make some major moves to do great things in the city of
Sapele that have not been done before. Let what is happening in the worship
revolution inspire you to cause a revolution in your passion, your field and
the area God is stirring your heart. You don't have to organize music concerts
like other young people are doing, rather seek to make yourself available for a
new revolution that needs to take place in the city. You may not have as much
effect as you desire at first but as you keep at it, you will make greater
progress and impact and you will grow. It may be in IT or Politics or another
dimension of ministry for example.
If you are a leader or mentor for young
people in any capacity, please keep doing the great job you are doing. The
future of Sapele depends on it.
2. There is a special anointing like
that which came upon David that is coming upon many young people; but like
David, please don't let the anointing get into your head. Keep serving and
being committed to the process God is taking you through.
After David was amazingly called from
the field and anointed as the next king of Israel, he went back to the field.
Think about that for a moment. It was while on an errand another day that he
encountered Goliath and I'm sure you know the rest of that story.
God stirred my heart to say this Word
while ministering in a church in Sapele in November 2017 and as I wrote this
piece the Word came strong to my heart again.
3. Greater selfless partnership,
cooperation and encouragement is highly needed for the great things God is
doing and will still do in the city of Sapele.
It must start from the Spirit via
prayers. I have personally experienced the impact united prayers have had on
the city of Sapele. We need to pray much more.
As much as we can, we also need to
encourage what many young people are doing with the necessary resources and
finances they need.
More selfless understanding, networking
and working together is also greatly needed by young people themselves.
Conclusion: Greater things are about to
happen in the city of Sapele. I can see it and feel it. Let's appreciate God
for the good things that are happening and let's work together and trust Him
for greater things.
